Frequently Asked Questions
Who can volunteer?
Teens and adults ages 13 and older may apply to volunteer at the library. Volunteers should be flexible, dependable, have the ability to follow directions, and work cooperatively as a team with other volunteers and library staff. No experience is necessary; training or an orientation is provided. For students going into 6th through 12th grade, see our special Summer Reading Program Volunteer Program opportunity.
Why volunteer at the library?
Volunteers gain work-related experience while having fun, helping others, trying new skills and learning about the library and our communities. You can generally choose hours to fit your schedule, and you might be able to volunteer with a friend – or meet new ones! Library volunteer work will usually satisfy service learning requirements for students.
What do library volunteers do?
Volunteers help with a variety of tasks, including shelving and organizing library materials, assisting with library events, providing clerical support, and completing special projects or community outreach. Volunteer duties are assigned based on the library’s needs.
