Gain free access to books, media, and resources.
Your Brown County Library card is the best card you can have in your wallet, giving you access to books, movies, music, video games, mobile hotspots, online resources, and so much more. Library cards are free for any Wisconsin resident. If you don’t already have one, you can apply anytime using the online application below.
Library Cards for Adults
Anyone 18 years and older can apply for a library card by filling out the application form on this page. Complete your application by coming in to any of our libraries with a photo ID and proof of your current address.
As soon as you complete your online application, you’ll get a temporary card number. You can use this temporary number to access all of our online resources right away. You can also use your temporary card number to place up to two items on hold for you at any BCL location.
Library Cards for Children
Children and teens under the age of 18 may apply for a library card if a parent or guardian (at least 18 years of age) signs for them. This person agrees to be responsible for any fines or fees on the account until the child turns 18. There is no minimum age for a child to qualify for a library card.
To apply, the parent or guardian must complete the online application with both the child’s information and the signer’s information. Once the application is complete, the responsible adult must come in to any Brown County Library location with a photo ID and proof of address to receive the card.
Due to privacy laws, we can only share information about a library account with the cardholder and the adult who signed for the card. If you would like another parent or guardian to have access to the child’s account information, please include his or her name in the “permission for holds” field when completing the application.
