Library Card Information
How do I get a library card?
Library cards are FREE. If you are 18 years or older, apply for a library card online or in person. You must be a Wisconsin resident and bring a picture ID. Bring a piece of mail if your address is not current.
Can I get a library card for my child?
Yes. Parents can decide when they feel their child is ready. Parent/guardian must be present.
What is my PIN? / I forgot my PIN
By default, the PIN is the last 4 digits of the phone number the library has on file for you.
How do I check my account?
Click on My Account/Renew Items and log into your account with your Library Card Number and PIN
What should I do if my contact information (address, phone, email, etc.) changes?
Update your contact information online, or call or stop in at any Brown County Library.
What should I do if my card has been stolen or lost?
Call or stop in at any Brown County Library immediately to deactivate and prevent misuse of your card.
Does the library protect my personal information?
Wisconsin State Statutes do not allow library staff to give out information about your library account without your permission. However, anyone with your library card number is assumed to have your permission to use your account and access your records. Read the full Privacy and Confidentiality Policy.
Can I see what my children have checked out?
Yes, until they are 16 years of age.

How long can I keep library books and materials?
21 Days: Books, Audiobooks, Kindles, Chromebooks, Cake Pans
7 Days: DVDs, Music CDs, Magazines, Mobile Hotspots, Video Games, Guitar Pedals

Is there any fee to borrow things from the library?
Most library materials are FREE to borrow. Most library locations also offer a collection of Rental DVDs (new and popular high-demand titles), which cost $1.50 to check out for one week.
How many items may I check out?
There is a maximum of 100 items per library card.
Can I get due date reminders?
Due date reminders are sent via email or text. Call or visit any Brown County Library location with your library card number to set up the notification that you prefer. You will receive a courtesy reminder three days before an item is due.
How much are overdue fines?

How do I pay my fines and fees?
• Credit & Debit Card: Visit browncountylibrary.org, log in to your account using your library card number and PIN, then select “Fines/Make a Payment.”
• Cash or Check: Stop at the desk of any Brown County Library location.
• Mail a check or money order to: Attn: Circulation, Brown County Library, 515 Pine Street, Green Bay, WI 54301. Please be sure to include your name and library card number.
• Accounts owing $50 or more are referred to an outside collection agency.
Can I still check out items if I have fines?
You may check out items if you have $10.00 or less in fines.
What happens if I lose or damage a library item?
Items overdue over 40 days are assumed to be lost. The Library charges the replacement cost for any lost or damaged item.
How do I renew items?
• Online at “My Account”
• Call or visit any BCL location
• Call (920) 448-6263 (automated), available 24 hours a day
How many times can I renew items?
Most library items can be renewed up to 4 times. Items may not be renewed if there is a waiting list.
How do I request an item that is currently checked out or at a different library location?
You may request an item by placing a “hold” on it. This means you will receive the item when your turn comes up on the waiting list. Place a hold on an item, call the library (920-448-4400), or ask in person at any Brown County Library location.
I'm going out of town. Can the library suspend my holds (requested items) temporarily?
Suspend your holds in “My Account” or contact any Brown County Library location.
Can I suggest an item for the library's collection and what are my options if the library doesn't own an item that I need?
You may suggest that the library purchase the item you are interested in borrowing. You may also suggest an item for purchase by contacting the library by phone or in person.
You may also request items from another library system, referred to as Interlibrary Loans. Request an Interlibrary Loan. s Library staff are happy to submit Interlibrary Loan requests, simply call or visit any Brown County Library location.
Where can I return items?
Return items to any Brown County Library location regardless of where you checked it out. A few exceptions apply. For your convenience, 24-hour outside bookdrops are available at all locations for all materials except those otherwise labeled.
Library ServicesCan I access the Internet and/or computer at the library?
Brown County Library provides free access to the Internet on computers and laptops and high-speed Wi-Fi. Library patrons with a valid library card may reserve a computer to use in any library location. Find more information about reserving a computer, pre-loaded software, and printing.
Does the library have microfilm or microfiche reader/printers?
The Central Library houses the microfilm collection and is equipped with microfilm readers/printers. This equipment is available to the public during all hours of operation.
Does the library have meeting rooms available for the public to use?
There are a variety of options to accommodate small or large groups. Visit Book a Meeting Room for more information.
Can the library display a poster or distribute flyers for my event?
Maybe. The library will promote your event if it meets the following criteria and if space allows:
• Government information
• Local events
• Non-profit organizations
• Library information
• Library programs
• Dated events over continuing programs
All materials are subject to Administration approval.
What accessibility services does the library offer?
The Brown County Library offers a variety of accessibility services to assist people who are physically, visually or hearing impaired.
What is the fee for printing/photocopying/scanning?
• Printing $0.25 per page
• Photocopying $0.15 per page
• Faxing $2.00 per page
Special Local History requests are subject to a $5.00 service fee
